Maidenhead and Marlow Archaeology and History Society

Dummy site photoMaidenhead and Marlow Archaeology and History Society (MMAHS) was created through the merger of Maidenhead Archaeological and Historical Society and Marlow Archaeology Group. Together we now have over 200 members with a range of skills and interests that allow us to undertake a range of activities from archaeological field work to historical research.
Members can enjoy our monthly talks that span topics across the centuries given by many distinguished experts including (literally) ground breaking archaeologists, popular historians and sometimes our own members. Many of our speakers are published authors and our talks are always followed by lively question and answer sessions.

We enjoy regular social events where members can meet informally over a meal or picnic (depending on the time of year).

For the last few years many of our members have had the opportunity to join in the major excavations at Cookham Abbey, organised by our sister organisation Friends of Cookham Abbey and Reading University.

We periodically arrange visits to sites of local interest – sometimes guided by one of our own members.

For those interested in the history of Maidenhead, we run a vibrant group that meets each month in Maidenhead Library.

Whether you want to get your hands dirty, have an academic interest or simply a general interest in history and archaeology, MMHAS has something for you.

Non-members are always welcome to join our activities (capacity allowing).
